The amount of detail imagineers have put in to creating the magic of the Disney parks is one of the main reasons why I love Disney so much. They literally think of everything! Right when you step onto Main Street, U.S.A, you are surrounded by all sorts of tiny details – many of which you might not even notice at first.
Main Street at the Magic Kingdom style parks is designed based on the movies. When you pass through the Train Station at Walt Disney World, you can see the “coming attractions” as you walk past posters for various attractions found in the park. Once you make it to Main Street, you will often find snack carts serving various snacks including popcorn – much like you would find at the concession stand of a movie theater.
If you look down as you stroll along Main Street, U.S.A, you may notice the pavement is an unusual color. The red pavement serves as the red carpet which you would find at a movie premiere. Of course, no red carpet event would be complete without the film’s stars.
Be sure to take a look at the many windows along Main Street. These windows actually serve as the credits. The names featured on the windows are in tribute to important people in the Disney company. In fact, having a window on Main Street is one of the highest honors at The Walt Disney Company. Among those honored with a window include quite a few imagineers, The Sherman Brothers, members of the Disney family, Roy Disney, and Walt Disney.
Each window is themed to the honoree’s specific interests and talents. As you can see in the above photo of Walt’s window, his window plays on his great interest in trains, as well as, his spectacular ability to turn his dreams into reality.
