Walt Disney World Refurbishment Schedule Update for March 2018 - Liberty Belle

Spring is in bloom as the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival has just begun at Walt Disney World. If your family will be heading to the parks soon, you’ll want to be aware of the scheduled refurbishments which may affect your visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth. The Refurbishment Schedule is subject to change, so be sure to  confirm any information prior to your vacation.

Magic Kingdom

  • Until further notice, the Walt Disney World monorail system is undergoing refurbishments and may be on modified service and/or routes. If you plan to use the monorail during your visit, be sure to check the best option available on your day of travel.
  • The Liberty Square Riverboat is currently undergoing refurbishment until a date yet to be determined.
  • Pirates of The Caribbean is currently closed until March 18, 2018 as the Auction scene is refurbished transforming the Redhead into a pirate.

Epcot

  • Kringla Bakeri Of Kafe is currently closed. A re-opening date is yet to be announced.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

  • Festival of The Lion King will be closed on May 9, 2018.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park

  • Typhoon Lagoon is currently closed for the park’s annual refurbishment through March 18, 2018.

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort

  • The Duck Pond Leisure Pool is currently closed for refurbishments through Spring 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. The Fantasia Pool, all merchandise, and dining locations will be available during this time.
  • Room refurbishments are currently taking place through Winter 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. All dining and merchandise locations will remain in full operation.

Disney’s All-Star Music Resort

  • The Calypso Pool is closed for refurbishments until early March 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. The Piano Pool, all merchandise, and dining locations will be available during this time.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

  • Construction on Disney’s new transportation system, Disney Skyliner, is taking place until further notice. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge & Villas

  • Jambo House is now participating in a pilot where transactions will be handled with convenient, cash-free options. All purchases and services at the resort will accept MagicBands, credit cards, debit cards, Disney Gift Cards, Disney Rewards Redemption Cards and contactless payments such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or Google Pay.
  • July 31, 2018 will be the last day of operation for the Children’s Activity Centers. Kid’s Nite Out will remain available for guests looking for a babysitter service.

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn & Villas

  • Various refurbishment projects are currently taking place across the resort. During this time, the resort will be in full operation with all amenities available, including dining, merchandise and recreation locations. It is possible construction may be seen or heard, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.
  • July 31, 2018 will be the last day of operation for the Children’s Activity Centers. Kid’s Nite Out will remain available for guests looking for a babysitter service.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

  • Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters at Old Port Royale, Cabana Pool Bar, Goombay Games Arcade, and Calypso Trading Post are closed for refurbishment through Fall 2018. A variety of dining options will be available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Centertown will serve breakfast and dinner. A selection of grab-and-go meals will be available for purchase at three island markets located in the Aruba, Jamaica, and Martinique regions of the resort. Additional a la carte offerings will be available at mobile food vending locations. In-room dining will remain available including pizza, sandwiches and pasta. The feature pool-Fuentes del Morro Pool – and leisure pools will all remain available. Recreation activities and entertainment will also be available. Buildings within Martinique and Barbados islands are unavailable to guests. During this time construction noise may be seen or heard throughout the resort, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.
  • Construction on Disney’s new transportation system, Disney Skyliner, is taking place until further notice. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.
  • Spyglass Grill will open in Spring 2018. This location in Trinidad South, will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu will feature a variety of items including hot breakfast entrées, sandwiches, salads, tacos, and refreshing beverages.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

  • A hard goods refurbishment is currently taking place at Disney’s Coronado Spring Resort through Summer 2019. During this time, amenities including dining locations (such as the newly reimagined Rix Sports Bar and Grill) and merchandise locations, pools, La Vida Health Club with the spa and salon, and recreation activities such as beach volleyball, Iguana Arcade, Movies Under the Stars and more, will remain available. Noise will be heard while the resort is undergoing refurbishments, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms prior to 9 a.m.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

  • The Grand Floridian Beach Pool & Pool Bar is currently closed through Spring 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. The water play area and mug refill station will remain available at this location. All other dining locations and the Courtyard Pool will be available during this time.

Disney’s Old Key West Resort

  • Room refurbishments will take place through Spring 2019. Guests may see or hear work in progress, and certain pathways may be unavailable. During this time, the resort will be in full operation with all amenities available including dining and merchandise locations, pools, and recreation activities. It is possible construction may be seen or heard, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.
  • The Turtle Pond Pool, Turtle Shack Snack Bar, and Flying Fish Gameroom will close for refurbishments April through early July 2018. During this time, guests may see construction. In addition, Sandcastle Pool, featuring a waterslide, kiddie pool and a variety of dining and recreation locations, will be available.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

  • July 31, 2018 will be the last day of operation for the Children’s Activity Centers. Kid’s Nite Out will remain available for Guests looking for a child or babysitter service.

Disney’s Pop Century Resort

  • Room refurbishments are taking place through Summer 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear work in progress and certain pathways may be unavailable. All work will attempt to be limited to after 9 a.m.
  • The Bowling Pool is currently closed for refurbishment through May 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. The Hippy Dippy Pool will be available. All dining and merchandise locations will remain in full operation.
  • Construction on Disney’s new transportation system, Disney Skyliner, is taking place until further notice. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.

Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter

  • Room refurbishments are taking place until late Spring 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. All amenities including dining, merchandise and recreation locations will be available.

Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts & Disney’s Beach Club Villas

  • July 31, 2018 will be the last day of operation for the Children’s Activity Centers. Kid’s Nite Out will remain available for Guests looking for a child or babysitter service.

Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center

  • Expansion work is taking place now through Winter 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear work in progress. Certain pathways may become unavailable. In an effort to minimize disruptions, work will attempt to be limited to after 9 a.m.

Disney Springs

  • Portobello Country Italian Trattoria is currently closed and will re-open as Terralina Crafted Italian at a date yet to be announced.

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

  • Roadwork is taking place in the area until further notice. Intermittent overnight lane closures, lane shifts, traffic congestion and noise impacts can be expected along Osceola Parkway / Victory Way.
