Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia: Walt Disney’s Harvard Degree

Walt Disney's Harvard Degree

Over the years, Walt Disney received numerous honors and awards. Among them were honorary degrees from several universities. In 1938, Harvard honored Walt with an honorary Masters of Art degree. As you can see in the photo above, a few of Walt’s friends even showed up to help him receive this special honor. Other universities to honor Walt Disney with an honorary degree include Yale, the University of Southern California, and UCLA.

Wow! That’s a lot of honorary degrees!

Kimberly @Frontierland Station

It sure is!

Interesting! He looks like he was having fun getting all his degrees. Thanks for sharing.

He does! I actually found a short little video from when he received the Harvard degree. It showed Walt playing with the characters seen in the photo above. He was talking to Donald and seemed to be thrilled to be receiving an honorary degree with a few of his closest friends!

Wouldn’t it be fun to receive an honorary degree? Walt definitely deserved it!

Kimberly @Frontierland Station

He most definitely did!

I’m always behind and just saw this – very cool! I’m not even sure if he actually ever truly finished high school, so a masters from harvard is quite impressive!

He didn’t finish high school. He dropped out to enlist in the Army, but when they said he was too young, he lied about his age and joined the Red Cross. A Harvard degree and an extremely successful company are definitely quite impressive, especially for someone who never even finished high school!
