Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia: Sharks of Finding Nemo

Sharks

In honor of Shark Week, this week’s trivia comes from the sharks of Finding Nemo. The film’s Great White shark, Bruce, actually has a connection to another great film featuring a shark, Jaws. Bruce was the nickname given to the models of the shark used in the film, named after Steven Spielberg’s lawyer, Bruce Ramer. As a tribute to the 1975 thriller, Pixar decided to give this same name to their Great White shark, as well.

Finding Nemo also features two more sharks, Anchor – a Hammerhead shark and Chum – a Mako shark. Together with Bruce, the three sharks have formed a support group to help each other stop eating fish. The group’s motto, also one of my favorite quotes from the film, is “Fish are friends, not food.”

I had no idea that Bruce had a connection to Jaws. That’s very interesting. “Fish are friends, not food” is one of my favorite lines too – especially appropriate for me, since I’m allergic to seafood!

Until about a year ago, I didn’t like fish. So, every time my husband tried to get me to try a bite, I’d usually tell him “Fish are friends, not food.” I still tell him that sometimes; there’s only a few types of fish I’ll actually eat.

I did not know that at all! Very funny!

I love that Bruce’s name comes from Jaws – very appropriate considering he tried to eat Marlin & Dory!
