Earlier today at The Walt Disney Company’s 2019 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, Disney announced the news we’ve all been waiting for: the opening dates for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge located at Disneyland Park in California will be the first to open, with an opening date of May 31, 2019. Walt Disney World’s version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, will open on August 29, 2019.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will not open until phase two of the land’s opening at a date which has yet to be announced. FASTPASS and MaxPass at Disneyland, as well as , FastPass+ at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will not be offered initially for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. The new land will not participate in Extra Magic Hour or Morning Magic at Disneyland but will be a part of Extra Magic Hours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney is evaluating the possibility of previews at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and will announce more at a later date.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will transport guests to Black Spire Outpost located on the planet of Batuu. This outpost was once a busy crossroads along sub-lightspeed trade routes. Hyperspace travel caused Black Spire Outpost to be bypassed, making it a thriving port for adventurers, rouge traders, and smugglers.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will bring two new highly anticipated attractions. Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run will allow guests to climb aboard the famous ship as they pilot the ship, shoot blasters, or prepare for hyperspace. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be a massive attraction which puts guests right in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be home to unique shopping experiences such as Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers where guests can build customized light sabers as a workshop Master guide instructs them on the ways of the Jedi. Other shopping experiences include Droid Depot, First Order Cargo, Resistance Supply, and more.
Several locations in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will satisfy the appetites of adventures visiting Black Spire Outpost. At Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs will prepare meals with the finest ingredients gathered from across the galaxy. Ronto Roasters will use recycled podracing engines to cook up exotic meats. Guests will be able to purchase green and blue milk at the Milk Stand. Kat Saka’s Kettle sells the popular Outpost Mix, a sweet, savory, and spicy blend of popcorn.
Are you looking forward to the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge? Will you be braving the crowds on opening day or waiting until later to visit Disney’s newest land? Which new attraction are you most excited to experience? Let us know in the comments below.
