Welcome to those of you joining me from A Disney Mom’s Thoughts and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the Final stop on our Magical Blogorail.
I am thrilled to be joining Magical Blogorail Green as a guest blogger! When I found out our topic would be My Disney Side, it took me a little while to determine what exactly to write about. I couldn’t quite grasp the idea of a Disney Side, separate from the normal side of you people see everyday. After some thinking (and input from my husband) I realized I don’t really have a separate Disney Side. I pretty much just have one side – my Disney Side.
I have loved Disney my entire life. My parents are Disney fans and they passed the love of all things Disney on to me at a very young age. My first trip to Walt Disney World was when I was 5 years old. I remember listening to the radio on the drive to Orlando. As we were getting close, a song came on with someone singing “We’re going to Disney World, We’re going to Disney World.” We all thought it was so funny since we were going to Disney World. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that song. In fact, I still sing it every now and then.
When I was 7 years old, my family won a Walt Disney World vacation from a local radio station! This time, we went to Disney in style. Our vacation included a stay at Wilderness Lodge, meal vouchers for any Disney restaurant, and tons of Disney magic.
My parents, my grandmother, and I dined with Cinderella in the castle and even watched Mickey swim by as we dined at the Coral Reef Restaurant. Jafar almost kidnapped me while we dined at the old Soundstage restaurant in MGM. We watched the Electrical Water Pageant from our fabulous resort. My family and I got to experience many magical attractions and meet many of our favorite characters on this special vacation. If we weren’t hooked before the Disney vacation we won, we certainly were after! Since that trip, my family has visited Disney about every year or two.
My Disney Side doesn’t stop at visiting the parks. Growing up, I had plenty of Disney themed birthday parties. One of my favorites was when my friends were invited to attend dressed as their favorite Disney character. I dressed as Princess Jasmine for the occasion. The Disney themed birthdays didn’t end when I grew up (not that I’m admitting I have grown up). I still have Disney themed birthday cakes every year. My birthday cake last year was decorated like Mickey Mouse.
Apart from vacations and birthdays, Disney is still very much a part of my everyday life. I love searching for hidden Mickeys and often find myself looking for them outside of the parks. In addition, I listen to Disney parks music almost every day. Sometimes I drink out of my resort mugs just to pretend I’m at the Most Magical Place On Earth. My wardrobe consists of quite a few Disney shirts and jackets. Much of my home decor features The Mouse. And of course, my car is almost always sporting a Disney antenna topper.
How do you show your Disney Side? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below!
