Fastpass To History: Tomorrow’s Child

Spaceship Earth Tomorrow's Child

In May of 1986, Epcot’s Spaceship Earth was updated. Walter Cronkite became the attraction’s narrator with an updated script. At the beginning of the ride, the fog machine was removed and twinkling stars were added.

My favorite of the 1986 additions to Spaceship Earth was the attraction’s new theme song Tomorrow’s ChildThis new song was written by Ron Ovadia and Peter Stougaard. Tomorrow’s Child could be heard while images of children were displayed on screens as the ride vehicles descended to the unloading area.

Spaceship Earth was once again updated in 1994. This time the narrator was changed to Jeremy Irons and Tomorrow’s Child was removed. I love the Jeremy Irons version of the attraction; however, I miss hearing Tomorrow’s ChildFortunately, an instrumental version of the attraction’s old theme song can still be heard at the Epcot entrance.

If you haven’t heard Tomorrow’s Childbe sure to check out the video below.
