Fastpass To History: Lilo & Stitch

Lilo & Stitch

Stitch is my absolute favorite Disney character. I love seeing him in the Disney parks and having breakfast with him at ‘Ohana! One of my favorite things about Stitch is that I actually got to see the Disney animators at work creating  Lilo & Stitch!

Years ago, the Orlando branch of Walt Disney Animation was housed in the Magic Of Disney Animation attraction at what was then called Disney-MGM Studios. As part of the animation tour, guests could watch animators working on upcoming Disney films.

One of the last times I saw the animators at work at MGM, they were creating Lilo & Stitch. In fact, this film was the second of only three films which were produced entirely in Orlando.

Lilo & Stitch was released theatrically in 2002. Two years later, in 2004, the Orlando branch of Walt Disney Animation was shut down. Though the animation tour still gives guests a look at upcoming Disney films, you can no longer see Disney magic being created.

Do you remember watching the animators at work in Orlando? Let us know which films you saw being created at the Magic of Disney Animation!

I remember that tour! I saw them working on “Pocohontas” I think.

Cool! I always loved seeing them working on the new movies!

How exciting!! Stitch is my son’s favorite character too. He did the animation class at Hollywood Studios recently and they drew Stitch. He was beyond excited! 🙂

That’s so cool! I’ve never done the animation class…mostly because I can’t draw at all!
