Fastpass To History: Disneyland Teacup At The Smithsonian

Fastpass To History: Disneyland Teacup At The Smithsonian

As you may remember from a previous Fastpass To History, one of Disneyland’s Dumbo ride vehicles has been on display at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History since 2005; However, this is not the only ride vehicle Disney sent to the museum as part of Disneyland’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. In addition to Dumbo, a teacup from the Mad Tea Party was also sent to the museum.

Both Dumbo and the teacup were chosen to be sent to the National Museum of American History because they were from the opening year of Disneyland, 1955. The Mad Tea Party attraction was actually one of the attractions with the park since opening day. To this day, the attraction still delights guests of all ages. It has become an iconic attraction for Disneyland.

While the Mad Tea Party teacup is no longer on display at the National Museum of American History, I’m sure it would have been exciting to see the display complete with two ride vehicles and old attraction posters! The Smithsonian does still have the Dumbo ride vehicle, though it is currently not on display due to renovations.

Were you able to see the Disneyland display at the National Museum of American History in 2005? If so, we would love to hear your thoughts on it in the comments below!

Oh, how fun! We were just at the Smithsonian this summer and didn’t have time to hit the American History museum. Next time!
