Fastpass To History: America On Parade

America On Parade

To celebrate the bicentennial of the United States of America, Disney created a new parade for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. This new parade was called America On Parade and began running at both parks in the summer of 1975. The parade which temporarily replaced the Main Street Electrical Parade would run once in the afternoon and again prior to the nightly fireworks show.

America On Parade showcased the history of the United States. The parade was lead by Mickey, Goofy, and Donald dressed in colonial attire. Floats which followed told the story of the first Thanksgiving, the American Revolution, and other key moments in our country’s history. The parade also featured more Disney characters including Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs, Dumbo, and more. You can see all of the parade floats in the souvenir video below.

Have you ever seen America On Parade before? This parade looks like it was such a neat way to celebrate America’s bicentennial!

I haven’t seen that parade, but the archival video is super neat!

I hadn’t seen the whole thing either. Honestly, I thought it was just a short one or two float parade until I found the video. So neat!
