Disneyland Opening Day Attractions

When Disneyland opened for the first time on July 17, 1955, several of its attractions were not yet completed. The Canal Boats of The World, later called Storybook Land Canal Boats, would be finished later in the year with Storybook Land scenery added in 1956. The Matterhorn Bobsleds would not be completed until 1959. While many of the Disneyland attractions we know today were not there, there were 18 major attractions which did open with the park. Below are the major Disneyland attractions guests could experience on the park’s opening day:

Main Street, U.S.A Attractions

  • Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad
  • Main Street Cinema
  • Main Street Shooting Gallery
  • Disneyland Street Railway (Horse Car)

Adventureland Attractions

  • Explorer Boat Ride Through The Rivers of Mexico, Africa, Central and Southern America, and Australia (later renamed The Jungle Cruise)

Frontierland Attractions

  • Mark Twain Riverboat
  • Golden Horseshoe Revue
  • Stagecoach Ride

Fantasyland Attractions

  • Sleeping Beauty Castle
  • King Arthur Carrousel
  • Mad Tea Party
  • Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Snow White’s Adventures (later renamed Snow White’s Scary Adventures)
  • Dumbo The Flying Elephant

Tomorrowland Attractions

  • Autopia
  • Tomorrowland Boats (later renamed Phantom Boats)

While some of the opening day attractions are no longer in existence, many of them can still be enjoyed by guests to this day. How many of Disneyland’s opening day attractions have you experienced? Let us know in the comments below!

Those pesky ‘A’ Tickets. There just wasn’t any way to use them all. My top dresser drawer was full of them. I was always going to use them on my next trip. If only we could have combined then into ‘D’ tickets.

It would have been nice if you could have combined them. Those old tickets are pretty neat, but I’m glad the attractions don’t require tickets today!
