Best Ways To Celebrate Birthdays At Disney

Best Ways To Celebrate A Birthday At Disney - Main St. Insider

Birthdays are special occasions which call for special celebrations! What better place to celebrate such a special occasion than Walt Disney World! I’ve celebrated several of my birthdays at The Most Magical Place on Earth and hope to celebrate many more of them there. Let’s take a look at some of the best ways to celebrate birthdays at Walt Disney World.

Specialty Cruises

Disney offers several different types of specialty cruises. These cruises sail around Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon, as well as, Cresent Lake near the Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. You can even book a fireworks cruise to watch Happily Ever After or IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth from the water. Depending on which cruise you select, some specialty cruises can accommodate up to 18 guests and may also include dining. Disney also offers celebration banners and balloons for your birthday cruise. In addition, dining options including a personalized cake or full meal can be added to these specialty cruises.

Dessert Parties

Disney now offers a variety of fireworks dessert parties. These parties are available at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Each party offers a great view of the nighttime spectaculars. At Magic Kingdom, guests will enjoy delicious desserts either before or after Happily Ever After lights up the sky. Dessert party guests at Epcot will enjoy tasty treats, IllumiNations, and a ride on Frozen Ever After. Disney’s Hollywood Studios has a dessert party for both of their nighttime shows, Fantasmic! and Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular. For more information on all of these dessert parties, be sure to check out our article on WDW dessert parties.

Dining Experiences

Walt Disney World is filled with wonderful table service restaurants which provide so many great options for special birthday meals. From the cultural dining experiences around World Showcase, including the delicious Tutto Italia Ristorante and Restaurant Marrakesh, to the unique restaurants of Disney Springs such as Paddlefish and The Boathouse, Walt Disney World has something for everyone. Character dining experiences, such as Tusker House where I celebrated my birthday last year, are also a great way to celebrate. If you decide to celebrate your birthday at one of Disney’s table service restaurants, be sure to make your reservation as close to 180 days ahead of time as you can, as some popular restaurants such as Be Our Guest Restaurant do book up quickly.

Birthday Button

Walt Disney World has celebration buttons for several occasions including birthdays. These free buttons are a fun way to let cast members and other guests know you’re celebrating. While it’s not guaranteed, your birthday button might get you some special treatment for your special day. Many guests and cast members will wish you a happy birthday. Some of them might even sing to you! For my birthday several year ago, a cast member outside of Columbia Harbour House sang a cute birthday song for me. I wish I had taken a video of it! If you’re traveling with someone celebrating a birthday, you can also get an I’m Celebrating button to join in the fun. Celebration buttons can be picked up at Guest Services and at many of the stores in the parks.

Reservation Notes

Be sure to make a note of your celebration on all reservations. Disney loves to help make guest celebrations extra special. When you book your Disney vacation, be sure to have your travel agent ask Disney to make a note on your reservation indicating someone in your party will be celebrating a birthday during the trip. After you’ve made your dining reservations, be sure to let Disney know you’re celebrating a birthday. Many restaurants will give the birthday boy or girl a special treat such as a free birthday cupcake! However, please keep in mind the cast members are not required to give out birthday freebies and there is no guarantee you receive one.

Great tips! We recently celebrated both my daughter’s and my birthday on our last trip. She got a card signed by all the princesses at our Akershus dinner. It was the best card she ever received!

We’ve celebrated a few birthdays at the resort. My wife and I both like to go out to eat for our Birthdays.
