The Best Way To Experience Disney’s Candlelight Processional

Candlelight Processional

Each year at Christmastime, the America Gardens Theatre in Epcot fills with the sights and sounds of Christmas as Disney’s Candlelight Processional takes place. This amazing show features the Christmas story as told by a 50 piece orchestra, a mass choir, and a celebrity narrator. Much like The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, this holiday event is one of the highlights of visiting Disney at Christmastime.

The Candlelight Processional does not require additional admission and seating is first come, first serve. Because this event is very popular, the theater fills to capacity practically every night. So you must arrive early to ensure you get a seat; however, if you don’t want to arrive early, you have another option which I highly recommend. Disney also offers a Candlelight Processional Dinner Package. With this package you will receive a reservation at one of the many fabulous Epcot table service restaurants, reserved seating for the Candlelight Processional, and admission to a special viewing location for IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.

When my family visited Walt Disney World the week after Christmas a few years ago, we made sure to book the Candlelight Processional Dinner Package. We decided to have dinner at one of my favorite Epcot restaurants, The Garden Grill. After having a wonderful dinner with Chip, Dale, and friends, we headed over to the America Gardens Theatre. The theatre was already filled with guests when we arrived, but thanks to our dinner package, we were able to go straight to our reserved seats towards the front of the theatre.

The Candlelight Processional was wonderful! The orchestra and mass choir treated us to many holiday classics, as well as, a couple fabulous songs I did not already know. In between songs, a celebrity narrator told the story of Jesus’ birth. My family loved the show so much that we actually purchased a CD of the Candlelight Processional on the way out. I’ve already listened to it several times this holiday season.

I don’t recall our dinner package including a special viewing location for IllumiNations. I think that may have been added to the packages since our Christmas Disney vacation; However, I’m sure this added bonus makes the Candlelight Processional Dinner Package even better than before!

Great post, Kimberly! Do you remember who your celebrity narrator was? I’ve never been to Disney at Christmas, that is definitely on my bucket list to get accomplished sooner rather than later!

Unfortunately, I don’t remember. You should definitely go at Christmas! It’s such a wonderful time to visit Disney!

I think this still has to be the most powerful Christmas experience in the Disney Parks; deeply spiritual and moving!

We experienced this last Christmas and it was such a special way to observe the true meaning of the holiday. Our narrator was Neil Patrick Harris!!! The dinner package did include a special reserved area for Illuminations which was great, since it was super crowded that day.

It definitely is! I love that the show shares the story of Jesus’ birth as told from the Bible! I bet Neil Patrick Harris was a great narrator!

This is the most beautiful show during the holiday season. We had the reserved seating one of our nights and I’m glad we did. We also enjoyed it a few more nights, it was that good.

I agree! We only saw it once while we were there, but it would definitely be worth seeing multiple times!

What a beautiful way to celebrate the holidays! I wish were were able to see it in 2010, but we missed it due to being delayed by a blizzard. Someday!

I LOVE the Candlelight Processional. It’s a beautiful experience that I’d love to experience again soon! If we have the opportunity to visit during the holiday again, totally doing the dinner package!

This was one of my favorite parts of Christmas at Epcot. I loved it! I glad that Disney isn’t afraid to share scripture during this season like so many others are!

That’s probably my favorite part! Not many companies will share the Christmas story from scripture, so I am so glad Disney is not afraid to! After all, Jesus is the reason for the season!

I LOVE the Candlelight Processional. We’ve been able to see it twice; once with Gary Sinese and once with Steven Curtis Chapman. We have done the dinner package both times and it has worked out perfectly! One of these days I want to see Neil Patrick Harris narrate!

How neat! I would have loved to see it when Steven Curtis Chapman was there! I’m not sure if she still does it, but I’d love to go when Phylicia Rashad is narrating! I love listening to her on the CD of the Candlelight Processional.
