The 2018 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is filled with so many delicious treats. Unless you’re a local, it will be next to impossible to try all of the food and beverages available during your visit. I recently had the opportunity to visit the festival and tried several snacks from the festival marketplaces. Let’s take a look at some of these tasty treats.
The Steakhouse Blended Burger
The very first snack I tried at the festival was the Steakhouse Blended Burger from Earth Eats. This burger is made of blended beef and wild mushrooms. It is topped with brie cheese fondue, arugula, truffle and blue cheese potato chip all on a brioche bun. As a fan of both mushrooms and burgers topped with blue cheese, I was very excited to try this unique eat. It absolutely did not disappoint. The Steakhouse Blended Burger was amazing. All of the flavors combined to create a sensational burger unlike any burger you’ve tasted before. Even if you’re not a fan of mushrooms, I think this burger is still worth trying. You can taste the mushroom a little, but I didn’t think the taste was overpowering at all. The potato chip provided a nice crunch to eat bite. The delicious cheese fondue complimented the blended burger perfectly. The Steakhouse Blended Burger was definitely one of the best things I tried at this year’s festival.
Lamb Meatball with Spicy Tomato Chutney
The New Zealand marketplace is home to the Lamb Meatball with Spicy Tomato Chutney. I was almost a little hesitant to try this snack due to the spicy tomato chutney as I’m not a huge fan of spicy. But the lamb meatball sounded delicious, so my husband and I decided to split this treat. I am so glad we did! The lamb meatball itself was amazing. The tomato chutney was not too spicy, and I actually did like it. The entire meatball was wrapped in bread. The meatball, chutney, and bread combined well to create another one of my favorite snacks from this year’s festival.
Canadian Cheddar Cheese and Bacon Soup served with a Pretzel Roll
Located at the Canada marketplace, the Canadian Cheddar Cheese and Bacon Soup is one of the most delicious snacks I’ve tried at the festival. Cheddar cheese soup has been one of my favorite soups since I was a kid. This particular soup is by far the best cheddar cheese soup I’ve ever tasted. It is so creamy and even has little pieces of bacon in the soup. This soup is served with a pretzel roll which tastes amazing dipped in the soup. If you only try a few things at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, make sure you try the Canadian cheddar cheese soup.
With several tempting snacks at the Italy marketplace, I had a hard time picking just one. Ultimately I decided on the Mezzi Rigatoni. This pasta was topped with vodka sauce, crispy pancetta, and parmesan cheese. I may have been a bit excited to try this one, as I completely forgot to take a photo before enjoying this flavorful snack. While this was one of the least unique items I tried during the festival, it was quite tasty. I would definitely recommend it to any pasta fan attending the festival. The sauce was very flavorful. The bites of pancetta added a delicious savory flavor to the dish.
Sweet Dark Chocolate Raspberry Tart with Whipped Cream
I love dark chocolate, so I was excited to try a bite of my husband’s dark chocolate raspberry tart. The outer edges of this treat were very tasty, almost like a brownie. My husband and I weren’t big fans of the raspberry filling. The beautiful white chocolate on top made this dessert so pretty and tasted as expected (I’m not a big white chocolate fan). The raspberry and whipped cream were nice additions to the dessert. While I probably wouldn’t get this treat again, I do think it would be great for anyone who loves raspberry flavored desserts and chocolate.
Twinings® Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea and Chocolate Shake
I love pumpkin, but I don’t like chai tea at all. Naturally, I was a bit hesitant to try the Twinnings Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea and Chocolate Shake. But I just couldn’t get the idea of a pumpkin and chocolate milkshake out of my head. This treat combines three of my favorite things – pumpkin, chocolate, and ice cream. After a while, I decided to go ahead and give this snack a try, despite knowing I don’t like chai tea. I am so glad I did. This shake was my absolute favorite treat I tried at the festival. Again, I was so excited to try this I completely forgot to take a photo. The shake tasted like a pumpkin flavored Frosty. I know that description probably doesn’t sound amazing, but it was. It had just the right amount of pumpkin and chocolate to make one of the best milkshakes I’ve ever tasted. In fact, now that I’m home, I’m anxiously waiting for my local grocery store to get Twinnings Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea in stock so I can attempt to recreate this delectable treat at home.
Which Snacks To Try?
With so many marketplaces and treats to try at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, it really can be difficult to prioritize and decide which snacks you’ll try and which might have to wait until next year. Prior to arriving at Walt Disney World, I discovered a great app which allows you to browse all of the festival offerings and add them to your wish list. It will also tell you how much it will cost to try all of the items on your list. If you’re heading to the festival, I definitely recommend downloading WDW Food&Wine to browse the available snacks prior to arriving at the festival. The app is available in both the App Store and the Google Play store. It was so helpful to go into the festival with a game plan rather than just trying to decide on snacks as we walked past the marketplaces.
